In John chapter 2 Jesus does some incredible miracles, which John calls signs, but only his disciples believed in him after he performed these signs. From these narratives we learn with the disciples about Jesus' character and his hope for us.
Jesus shows himself to be compassionate towards the average person as he turn water into wine for this nameless family and towards the Gentile followers of God when he cleared the temple courts of the animals and money changers.
We also see the people living out what John 1:11-13 says
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Jesus went to Jerusalem and was rejected by the Jews, they did not receive him or believe in him. However his disciples did, and they did not realize it yet but they had become God’s children and Jesus would raise them up to spread the family of God by discipling them to be like him.
I believe that God wants us to pray about the little and the big things and to invite him into our situations. Will he always respond and move, no I don’t think so but there are times when it feels like he might not respond but he does anyways. So pray for everything you need, even about the seemingly insignificant things, and pray that God moves in your life.
Jesus is compassionate, so pray and ask him to help you in all circumstances. Jesus wants you to follow him with or without a sign, so will you become his disciples, his apprentice, or will you have inauthentic faith?
