Jesus Tells All

In John 5, Jesus tells the Jewish leaders very clearly what he is claiming about himself, although it is against their beliefs it is a shift in worldview that he is asking them to make. He is asking them to give up what they know and understand in Moses and to begin to believe in the new things that God is beginning to do through him.

He tells them that God the Father has sent him and he is working with God to do mighty things in their midst. This is why Jesus is not breaking the Law by healing on the Sabbath because he is working with God the Father who they believe is also lawfully working on the Sabbath

Jesus then tells them how they can trust what he is saying by hearing the following testimonies about him; John, the testimony of the miracles he does by God’s power, the testimony of God the Father given at his baptism, and the testimony of the Old Testament Scriptures about him. However these testimonies are not enough to please the people he is talking to because it seems like they are looking for one of them to testify about Jesus but because of their fear of man and desire to be elevated in the tradition they are a part of no one is willing to testify that Jesus is who he says he is.

Today there are times when people know Jesus is the Messiah and they call themselves Christians but they are not willing to tell others around them about what they know. They would rather see Jesus’ name run through the dirt then risk their social standing defending him. Do not be afraid to tell others what Jesus truly said about himself because He did, even though it led to his death by those he shared the truth with.
