Read John 14:23-31

God has given us these great promises in his word that we can cling to. Jesus instructs us to not let our hearts be troubled or scared. Although Jesus gives this command it is easy to feel that way when we're trying to do things on our own strength but when we're trusting in the Lord and leaning into him it changes everything.

By our own strength it can be impossible but with God living inside us and the peace of God and the help of the church we can learn to better follow Jesus’ commands including this one.

When you come to church, which is the meeting of brothers and sisters in Christ, this meeting is to be a place of help and encouragement. We all stumble and fall although we have the instructions from Jesus. And that is ok, we don't need to be ashamed to admit our weaknesses and our failings.

At times we should admit that I know the Bible says don’t do this but I did. I repent of this action but brothers and sisters will you hold me up in prayer and help me and give me encouragement so that I can be strong to not do that again?

No matter your weakness or failing this is what the church is for. To build up one another. If you have something going on in your life, tell the church! We are the family of God and we are not to be a family where all our emotions and struggles are locked behind closed doors but one in which they are openly shared. We, the Body of Christ, should help one another in our walk with God. We are to help each other to carry out Jesus’ commands.

Jesus says “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” And by our own strength this command is nearly impossible to do. But with the help of other believes and their encouragement whenever we feel fear or trouble in our hearts we can go to one another and pray together and share our burdens together.
